Abstract

Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) is a high speed and high throughput technique for generating millions of sequences at one time. This technique is used to analyse organisms at a genomic level and allows researcher to sequence, re-sequence and compare data. By using this new technology, it is possible to generate quantitative and qualitative sequence data within short period and lower cost compared to Sanger sequencing.

NGS is rapidly becoming a core technology in vaccinomics to delineate the cellular and molecular pathways by which pathogens induced protective immune responses and to study genetic signatures that predict immunogenicity and safety of a vaccine. Furthermore, in the Vaccine field, use of novel cell substrates raised safety concerns for known and unknown viruses and NGS permits the “de novo” sequencing without prior knowledge of sequences.
