Strengthening Local Vaccine Manufacturing: DCVMN at the 3rd World Local Production Forum in Abu Dhabi

From April 7–9, DCVMN CEO Mr. Rajinder Suri represented our network at the 3rd World Local Production Forum (WLPF) in Abu Dhabi, hosted by World Health Organization and partners under the theme: “Advancing Local Production for Health Equity, Global Health Security, and Sustainable Development.”

On April 8, Mr. Suri joined Plenary Panel 3: “Fostering Innovation, Technology Transfer and Production Along the Value Chain”, where he shared:
🔹 The barriers DCVMN members faced during the COVID-19 pandemic in R&D and manufacturing, and how they overcame them. Mr. Suri highlighted that one of the key ways these challenges were addressed was through the deployment of risk funding to rapidly scale up manufacturing capacity under immense time pressure.
🔹 The critical success factors needed to achieve self-sufficiency in vaccine production across LICs and LMICs.
🔹 Key lessons from public-private partnerships to strengthen local production along the entire value chain.

On April 9, Mr. Suri chaired Plenary Panel 9: CEO Forum – “Shaping the Future of Local Production for Sustainable Growth”, gathering influential voices from vaccine manufacturers to explore how industry leadership can drive meaningful public health impact.

These discussions are tightly aligned with DCVMN’s mission to enable sustainable access to high-quality vaccines through a strong, collaborative, and innovation-driven manufacturing ecosystem in developing countries.
