On 25 June, DCVMN CEO Rajinder Suri joined global leaders at the Global Summit: Health and Prosperity through Immunisation in Brussels, co-hosted by the European Union, the Gates Foundation, and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance to reaffirm the global imperative for investing in immunization. GAVI secured an amazing over USD 9 billion dollars pledges from donors for the strategic period 2026-30. Heartiest Congratulations to team Gavi under the able leadership of the CEO, Dr. Sania Nishtar.
Mr. Suri participated in the high-level panel “Building together a safer, stronger and more prosperous world”, which brought together Dr. Richard Hatchett, CEO of CEPI (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations), Ms. Shanelle Hall, Principal Advisor to the Director General Africa CDC, H.E. Mr. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister of Health, Ghana, and Ms. Assietou Sylla Diouf, CEO of VaxSen. He underscored the critical role of industry in delivering on the promise of health and prosperity through immunisation.
Drawing on the strength of DCVMN’s 48 members across 17 countries and all six WHO regions, Mr. Suri highlighted the contribution of over 9 billion doses during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the network’s ongoing role in supporting 19 of Gavi’s 20 programmes, including 12 programmes’ vaccines being supplied solely by DCVMN members. He emphasized how diversified and regionally distributed manufacturing enhances equity, strengthens health security, and supports socioeconomic resilience, particularly in Africa.
Mr. Suri reiterated that regional vaccine manufacturing capacity is not just a health asset, but it is a strategic investment that underpins economic development and regional self-reliance in times of public health emergencies.
DCVMN remains committed to working shoulder to shoulder with partners including Gavi, CEPI, WHO, PAHO, and Africa CDC to help build a safer, more equitable world through sustained investment in immunisation.
