Rajinder Suri, CEO of DCVMN, participated in the “2nd Edition of The Global Event on Harnessing Private Sector Engagement for Sustainable Vaccine and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing in Africa” this past week in Nairobi, Kenya.
This prestigious event was co-organized by the World Health Organization’s Local Production and Assistance Unit, the Africa CDC, and the Directorate-General for International Partnerships of the European Commission. The primary objective was to enhance private sector engagement and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
Mr. Suri participated in the “Plenary Session: Assessing Industry Development Support Programmes,” where he provided a comprehensive perspective on the role of DCVMN in fostering industry development support programmes. He also discussed strategies for scaling up and accelerating private sector engagement to meet Africa’s healthcare needs. This session was enriched by contributions from esteemed partners from Africa CDC, FAPMA, African Vaccine Manufacturing Initiative (AVMI), IFPMA, and Verband Forschender Arzneimittelhersteller e.V. (VFA).
Our deepest gratitude to the event organizers for orchestrating a crucial platform that enabled the examination of sustainable business models, supply chains, technologies, and investment partnerships essential for advancing vaccine and pharmaceutical manufacturing in Africa. We would like to extend a special thank you to H.E. Susan Nakhumicha Wafula, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Health, Kenya, and H.E. Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director-General of Africa CDC for their honourable presence and to Dr. Jicui Dong for the invitation.
